What Constitutes a Family Heirloom?
You'll know it when you see it! An iron skillet, an embroidered hand towel, a well-loved doll, Grandma Flo's stained and faded recipe cards, are all things that can be imbued with memories. They keep us connected to our families and our roots, and teach us about our histories. They may have modest monetary value, but they are 'priceless', and priceless things deserve to survive a flurry of Spring cleaning.
These objects meant a lot to the people who meant a lot to us, so keep them and treasure them, and pass them on to future generations. Go ahead with your Spring cleaning blitz, but when you reach the heirlooms, pause and reflect.
What family heirlooms would you never, ever dream of parting with? What do you hope to pass down to your children?
